Inspired!

My friends and family know that I'm not easily wowed or impressed but that every once in a while, I'm palpably blown away by an experience.

I recently attended a fine arts craft fair to support a super talented mosaic artist and friend Mollycat Mosaics

Walking around the fair, I encountered Brian’s Dots. Brian, and his work, stopped me dead in my tracks. His work is awe inspiring and his story is even more remarkable.

Several years ago, Brian suffered a life-changing ski accident that upended life as he once knew it. The accident left him paralyzed from the neck down, but he was able to beat the odds through his determination to live and his love of the outdoors. Brian discovered art therapy, and is now walking with the aid of crutches and creating crazy cool art!

Watching him work on his newly found craft, and being there as he created images that magically surfaced by applying tens of thousands of single tiny dots to a page, one by one, with a fine tip marker, was mesmerizing and dizzying to watch. You can check it out for yourself in this short video.

Seeing his determination, his focus, and his intention as he creates his works of art—tuning out distractions, staying completely immersed—inspired me, and I took a moment to let him know. As we were speaking, he worked on a new piece. His once-paralyzed hand never left contact with the page and he motored through without missing a beat!

I left with a renewed sense of purpose and confirmation that change, under any circumstance, is possible if the will and intent is present.

We are mere mortals on this earth. While we don't have super powers, our will and intention can be directed to make incredible things happen in our lives and in the lives of others.

Thank you Brian for letting me into your magical world of dots, and for sharing your extraordinary experience with me!
