Looking Forward...

At 5 years of age this little girl did not know how her life would unfold,
the twists and turns and the stories untold.

Along the way, the chances that with courage she’d take, 
and, with a leap of faith, the bold choices she’d make.

The laughter and joy of fun times with family and friends
and the pain and the sorrow, of human loss, that just would not mend.

The many transformations and changes, and old habits she’d break,
by lending a helping hand, offering an ear, or simply tasty cupcakes.

The fortune of enjoying unconditional love
with the best partner and friend the universe sent, to me, straight from above.

Today, as I reach a meaningful milestone,
I celebrate her for her spirit and outlook.

I briefly look back on the journey and smile, at how far I’ve come,
the lessons learned,  hard work and toil, and successes won.

Making sure I tended my house, I left nothing undone,
but to enjoy the present, and look forward to the future with fun!
